In contrast to the chamber-organ texture of l/r, the first organ piece I wrote, GOD (farting,
belching, coughing) pulls out all the stops. The title comes from William Blake:
Then Nobodaddy aloft/Farted, belch’d and cough’d
Nobodaddy (nobody’s daddy) is Blake’s disrespectful name for the vindictive, jealous, moralistic, thou-shalt-not jehovah of the Old Testament, false god of this world. GOD (farting, belching, coughing) belongs to a number of Blake-related pieces that share harmonic material (including HELL for singing violinist, and DANCE for singing pianist). It was written in 2011 for Lauren Redhead.
